Ultimate Adventure Magazine

Since around June2011 a large collection of writers/artists/celebs have been working together on a kind of collaborative weekend project called Ultimate Adventure Magazine. Although I’m on there as “Editor” it really, really has been a mad and brilliant collaboration, with most of the hard work done by all the people involved!! You can check out this FREE magazine at www.uamag.co.uk.  We hope you like it :-)

Short Story Competition – with over £100 of prizes!!

Jordan Reyne, New Zealand’s premiere

bloodthirsty Celtic rock and machine sounds
superhero,
has teamed up with Anarchy Books to bring you a dazzling

short story writing competition!

Jordan Reyne’s new album, Children of a Factory Nation, is being released September 2011 and
follows a family who lived in Wales in the late 1800s during the Industrial
Revolution. Like many alive in their time, they faced problems relating to
difficult working conditions, poverty, and the tyranny of circumstance. This
album constructs stories from facts known about Johnathan, Mary, their children
Molly & Thomas, and grandchild Wynne.

The competition is to write a short story surrounding any character or
sets of characters from Children of a Factory Nation using Jordan
Reyne’s lyrics
or the facts about their real life counterparts
as a starting point. The competition will be judged by Andy Remic, SFF
author and co-owner of Anarchy Books, John Jarrold, esteemed agent with
decades of experience in the publishing industry as both editor and agent, David
Bradley
, editor of the fabulous SFX magazine, Lee Harris, editor at
Angry Robot Books, James Lovegrove, SFF New York Times bestselling
author, Gary McMahon, rising star of the Horror Genre (and all-round
nice-guy beer drinker), Jared Shurin of popular online magazine
Pornokitsch, and the incredible Hugo award winner Ellen Datlow, veteran
editor in horror and SFF fields.
First prize is publication in the album’s accompanying magazine and on
the website, £100, a t-shirt, signed copy of the album Children of a Factory Nation, and the first three Anarchy Books
ebook releases, in all digital formats. Three runners up will receive a signed
copy of Jordan Reyne’s new album.

Stories should be no longer than 3000 words, and submitted digitally in a
single file (either .doc, .rtf or .pdf)

Deadline for final entries is Sunday 14th August. The
winner(s) will be announced on Sunday 28th August. Authors must be willing to
give 6 months exclusivity on the story (from the time of publication) if they
win the competition. Happy writing!!

2 Promo Films on the Horizon…

2 short films due for release in order to promote my books– first is HARDCORE, long overdue (due to my crew/actors all having babies!!) which will be out in the next week, and the SOUL STEALERS film is nearly ready, and should follow a week or two later prior to the release of the novel.

Chemical Man Short Film.

OK, so I’ve made a short film called Chemical Man, mainly as a learning process to get me used to hi-def cams and editing software and, er, working with “actors”. By making something like this, you certainly learn a lot during the process and it’s a damn sight harder than you think!! There are many “mistakes” in the film but hey, it was really good fun and I’ll post Chemical Man soon so I can be pelted with rotten tomatoes, heh. As one friend said when they saw this pic, “Is that you, Rem, in the gimp mask?”. Ho ho. So yes, it is indeed I in the gimp mask.

Please note, I want to say a very special thanks to the musicians who graciously and humorously gave permission to use their vibes in this little film. So thanks to Jordan Reyne for her sultry vocals, thanks to TH3 M1SS1NG which I hate to type but love to listen to, and also especially for that haunting piano track written just for this film; and finally, a HUGE THANKS to the wonderful NEW MODEL ARMY for permisison to use Bad Harvest from their latest album, Today Is A Good Day, and who I’ve been listening to for DECADES!! Wow. I’m totally honoured!!
